I really enjoyed this Whodunit novel. It’s the 2nd in a series, but I read it first with no confusion. It stands alone well. While I typically wouldn’t read a series out of order, it worked out great in this instance.
I have to admit I like to know as little as possible about a book before I read, so I was guessing this was going to be more of a romance novel. It isn’t. I mean, there’s a strong thread of romance and some definitely sexy moments, but it fits even better into the Murder Mystery/Suspense genres.
I enjoyed the variety of characters and perspectives, and along the way, I changed my mind a few times about which ones I liked and which ones disgusted me with their lousy behaviors. I think most people don’t have a particularly high opinion of gossip columnists and photographers, but this story turns the tables around on that and lets you see many different sides to people who work in that industry.
Overall, it’s a good, solid read, and I recommend it for anyone who likes mystery and suspense with a sensual element.

The final round is next week, and my pitch will appear in the alternates showcase. Until then, I’ll be spending most of my free time editing. I want to add a few small scenes, actually more like moments, that I think will make the novel even better.
Regardless of what happens, this has been an exciting experience, and the feedback provided has helped me make my novel so much stronger. I’m happy that I put myself and my work out there.
