The Shape of Water by Guillermo del Toro

The Shape of WaterThe Shape of Water by Guillermo del Toro
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is definitely different. There were these small moments where it felt like this story could be everything, but they never lasted.

I confess there reached a point where I mostly continued on just for the amphibious scenes, which were full of imagery, and out of curiosity to see what level of intimacy might grow between the creature and the mute MC. You’ll have to read it yourself, if you want to know.

So yep. Weird. Gorgeous. Meandering. A bit psychotic. Sometimes misguided, and frequently underdeveloped. But it’s definitely on the unexpected side, which might make it worth your time.
