Glass by Ellen Hopkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Well-written, disturbing verse. I hate to say I enjoyed reading this, because it’s so tragic. But I did. It’s a fascinating perspective on addiction.
It makes me both incredibly frustrated with Kristina and sympathetic towards her. I hate her choices, but the logic (or lack there of) behind them is interesting to explore. It’s a good reminder that drugs aren’t just addictive. They also permanently alter your brain and body, which makes it even harder to be the kind of person who makes better choices and/or who permanently quits using them.
