Book Review: The Maze Runner by James Dashner

The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1)The Maze Runner by James Dashner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book starts slowly and builds momentum. It has plenty of action & adventure.

Each month, 1 new boy gets dumped into a Dystopian society, created by ???? They arrive in the “box” with no memories and step out into the “Glade” which connects to a huge and ever-changing man-made Maze. The boys form their own society, protect themselves from Grievers (part monster/part machine/partly to blame for my nightmares), and try desperately to solve the maze, in the hopes that they can break free.

After Thomas arrives, everything starts to change. He has strange and familiar feelings about the maze and knows he is destined to be a “Runner” (one of the 8 boys who runs through the maze during daylight hours, trying to map the ever changing walls and figure out a solution).

You will read about everything from hope to despair, leaders to followers, heroes to cowards, hate to love, and life to death. Part of a trilogy, this book ends with many surprises and leaves you wanting more.
