Book Review: Maus, I: A Survivor’s Tale: My Father Bleeds History

Maus, I: A Survivor's Tale: My Father Bleeds History (Maus, #1)Maus, I: A Survivor’s Tale: My Father Bleeds History by Art Spiegelman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I had a very mixed up idea of what this graphic novel was going to be like, based on all the acclaim it won. I told myself in my head what I thought it would be like and never read it. I was worried about it being hard to swallow. That was just stupid, because my head was all kinds of wrong.

This graphic novel is beyond amazing. I never expected it to have so much charm, and I love how it blends present and past. It tugged my heart in so many different directions. I have read many stories and books about the holocaust, but I’ve never experienced anything quite like this before. The combination of the story, with the artwork, style, and voice, is perfection. Everyone should read this. I can’t wait to get my hands on the 2nd one.
