Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Well, then. That was one hell of a journey through darkness, and now I’m stuck in one of those first rule of Fight Club situations. On one hand, I’m happy to finally be part of the club, but on the other, I realize the insanity of being part of the club.
And now I’ve already broken the first rule. Sigh.
PS: I think the writing is clever, and it is definitely a polarizing story. Some people are going to love it, some hate it. I actually kind of like that about it. Refreshing change of pace…
I’ve only written one bad review ever, and it was for this book! I listened to it on audio book actually, so that was a lot of extra time with the psycho MC’s. I really shouldn’t have written the review, but after I got done with the book I was just so steaming mad. I agree with you about somehow liking how polarizing it is. It’s not meant to uplift or inspire, it’s a gritty story full of twists and turns and darkness. My two cents.
Indeed! It’s definitely not your typical story. I didn’t want to clutch the book to my chest after….more like set it far away from me so nothing from it would seep inside of me. 😉
