The Emotion Thesaurus: A Writer’s Guide to Character Expression by Angela Ackerman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Hurry up! You heard me! Go buy this excellent resource, especially if you are a fiction writer. You won’t regret it. It’s very handy and easy to use.
It stops me from using the same physical descriptions over and over again to show emotions. After awhile, I run out of new ways to show emotions, especially on a challenging writing day. It’s great to be able to just flip to an emotion I want to portray in the book and remind myself what that emotion really looks like, in terms of physical representation. It saves me from telling something, when I should be showing it.
I have the negative traits books as well, and I plan to buy positive traits next.
Thanks for the positive review, B.A.! I’m so glad you’re finding The Emotion Thesaurus useful. It’s been a huge help to me, too, lol. Thanks for spreading the word :).
